There’s nothing like the anticipation of a new romantasy release. Below, I’ve rounded up the most promising fantasy romance releases hitting shelves in August 2025.

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for your next clean fantasy romance to swoon over. August should be full of exciting new stories! But here’s the thing: researching unreleased books and confirming their content ahead of time is…a challenge. A lot of the books that looked like they might be no-spice actually weren’t once I dug a little deeper. Plus, there were books that included queer relationships that I don’t read, therefore don’t recommend on my website. So, this month’s list is shorter than I hoped.
If you find any others that fit the no-spice fantasy romance bill, definitely let me know, I’d love to keep growing this list and spotlighting clean reads!
August 2025 Fantasy Romance Releases

🗡️ Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
Release Date: August 5, 2025
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, morally gray love interest.
Summary: In this quirky and charming fantasy, Assistant Evie and her villainous boss are back. Caught between world-ending magical politics and reluctant romantic tension. With humor, heart, and a slow-burn romance, this one’s perfect for fans of cozy romantasy with just the right amount of chaos. (Book 3 in the Assistant to the Villain series)

❄️ Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher
Release Date: August 19, 2025
Tropes: Fairy tale retelling, grumpy/sunshine, magical healing.
Summary: A gothic and whimsical reimagining of Snow White from a master of cozy fantasy. When a kind-hearted witch discovers a girl cursed into magical sleep, she’s drawn into a forest of old secrets and dangerous choices plus there’s a romance subplot that stays gentle and heartwarming.
🔁 Not New, But Totally Worth a Re-Read: A Bounty of Secrets and Rebellion
If August feels a little slow on the clean fantasy romance front, it might be the perfect time to revisit a book you already love, or try one you’ve been meaning to read.
Might I humbly suggest A Bounty of Secrets and Rebellion?
It has all the ingredients of a binge-worthy fantasy romance:
✨ forbidden love
🔥 elemental magic
🛡️ arranged marriage complications
💥 political rebellion
…and of course, zero spice.
Whether you’re meeting Alana and Koa for the first time or diving back into their world, it’s the kind of story that sticks with you. (And yes, it’s part of a series, so your next read is ready when you finish!)

A Note on Researching Clean Reads
Trying to find no-spice fantasy romance before a book releases is not for the faint of heart. Book blurbs rarely mention heat levels, and sometimes even reviews are vague (or misleading). I do my absolute best to research each title, but some slip through the cracks—and I always want to be honest with you about that.
I believe there’s a growing demand for clean, swoony, fantasy romance, and if we keep talking about it, authors and publishers will start listening. So thank you for being part of this clean reading corner of the internet with me. ❤️
🗣️Help Me Build the List!
Have you spotted a no-spice fantasy romance releasing soon that I missed? Leave a comment or shoot me a message. I’d love to feature more indie, small press, or hidden gem titles that align with our clean reading preferences.
