Every fantasy reader has done it: imagined living in a world of castles, dragons, and magical quests. But what if I actually ran a kingdom? I started thinking… if I were queen (no arranged marriage necessary, thank you very much 😉 who would I trust to help me rule?
So, here’s my dream royal court made up entirely of some of my favorite fantasy characters who are loyal, clever, fierce (and yes, completely clean—because this is a no-spice realm!).
✨ My Kingdom Dream Team ✨

🧠 The Strategist:
Elias Veturius (An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir)
Let’s be real—running a kingdom requires brains and battle skills. Elias has both. He’s not just a soldier; he’s thoughtful, disciplined, and always one step ahead. I’d count on him to lead the army and keep me grounded when politics get messy.
Bonus: He’d never betray his queen. Honor is basically his love language.

🤝 The Right-Hand Woman:
Kazi (Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson)
Street-smart, stubborn, and fiercely loyal, Kazi is exactly who I’d want at my side. She’s quick on her feet—physically and mentally—and she knows how to get the job done, no matter the odds. She challenges power when needed and never forgets where she came from.
If anyone tries to manipulate me? Kazi’s already got them in a headlock.

📚 The Royal Advisor:
Hermione Granger (Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling)
Come on, who else? Hermione is basically a walking encyclopedia with a moral compass. She’d make sure my kingdom’s decisions were grounded in logic, compassion, and a heavy dose of library research. Also, she’d probably be running the government within a month—and I’d let her.
Royal decrees? Please. Hermione would draft, revise, and fact-check them before breakfast.

⚖️ The Justice Keeper:
Aaron Warner (Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi)
Warner is complicated—but that’s exactly why he’d be perfect in charge of justice. He understands the darker sides of power, but he’s committed to using it to protect the innocent and punish the corrupt. He’s intense, but fair. Sharp, but not cruel. And he doesn’t flinch when it matters most.
Justice with a dagger and a conscience.

🪄 The Commander of Magic:
Jaren (The Prison Healer trilogy by Lynette Noni)
Jaren is the kind of leader who doesn’t need to raise his voice to command attention. Gentle, principled, and fiercely protective, he knows the weight of responsibility that comes with magic and power. He’s not just strong—he’s steady, and exactly the kind of presence every kingdom’s magic needs.
Magic should serve and heal, not control—and Jaren lives that truth.

🌿 The People’s Champion:
Samwise Gamgee (The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien)
Because let’s be honest—every kingdom needs a Sam. He’d represent the people with humility, goodness, and a love of gardens. He wouls also remind us that even the smallest voices matter.
Sidenote: he’d cook better meals than the royal chef. Just saying…
💬So… Who Would Run Your Kingdom?
This was so much fun to put together, and now I want to know: who would you choose? Would your kingdom be full of rebels or scholars? Warriors or healers? Tag me on Instagram or leave a comment with your dream fantasy court. I’m always down to chat books and build imaginary kingdoms together. ✨
