The Calling Book Review

📔 Book: The Calling
✍️ Author: L.C. Pye
⚙️ Genre: YA
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved the Divergent vibes in this one! This book is advertised as Divergent and Robin Hood, and I def got that here. I also appreciated the Christian elements sprinkled within.
While I enjoyed the story overall, I felt like it could have been better with some improvements. Less telling, more showing to immerse the reader in the story. The romance could have been built up better. It was slow burn, but only in the sense that there was a long time they barely interacted with each other, then suddenly they fall for each other. Finally, there were instances of repetitive info that could have been cut with a good big picture edit. Perhaps to make room for encounters with the love interests to interact more.
There is a cliff hanger but the next two books are already available so you won’t have to suffer that ending for long!
Some tropes you might enjoy:
Found family 🧑🧑🧒🧒
Slow burn romance 🔥
Archery 🏹
Christian elements ✝️
Young adult readers who enjoy no spice, slow burn romance with adventure, mystery and a cliff hanger ending will adore this book.
